Food Scene
Greer’s food scene is largely concentrated in its downtown area and centered around its family-friendly community. Residents and visitors enjoy local coffee shops like Barista Alley and Little Leaf Coffee inside Cartwright Food Hall, which offers multiple dining options and live music. Downtown diners can also enjoy seafood spots like The Great Bay Oyster House, world-class steakhouse Rick Erwin’s Greer, and fine dining including L’Incanto.
A testament to its vibrant culture, the city hosts the Greer Goes Global International Festival, an annual event featuring food from more than 40 countries, as well as cultural activities, music and more. Greer also hosts a Food Truck Rollout, featuring bites from local restaurants and food businesses in a community setting. Taking place weekly from May through August and monthly from September through April, the Greer Farmers Market features fresh food from local vendors with live music performances.

Greer is home to a vibrant downtown, making it an ideal place to experience Upstate South Carolina’s culture. The Greer Cultural Arts Council hosts multiple performances and events that are welcoming to all members of the community. The completely renovated Center for the Arts, located in a 65-year-old former retreat building, now houses a full theatre, pottery and art classes, an art gallery and rentable studios for local artists. Another community arts and culture highlight is the city’s Tunes in the Park and Greer Idol concert series, held during the summer.

Outdoor Activities
If you’re an outdoor adventurer with a penchant for golf, fishing and water sports, Greer is the place for you. The 12-acre Greer City Park has an amphitheater, playgrounds and picnic tables that attract families from around the area. Greer also has two lakes operated by Greer Commission of Public Works that offer recreational opportunities and fishing areas. Lake Robinson is made up of 800 acres that are perfect for fishing, boating, paddleboarding and kayaking. In fact, the Greenville News dubbed it a “small jewel” for its great fishing opportunities. Lake Cunningham is approximately 200 acres of land that also offers ideal fishing and boating opportunities.
Greer is also home to the nationally-recognized Thornblade Club, which hosts the BMW Charity Pro-Am Tournament, making it a sought-after course for amateur and seasoned golfers.
Greer Golf, located within the foothills of Greer, is a newly-renovated, 18-hole public golf course proudly owned and operated by the City of Greer.

Located in the heart of Upstate SC between Greenville and Spartanburg, Greer boasts one of the most strategic locations in the area. Greenville County is the largest public-school system in South Carolina with more than 76,000 students. J. Harley Bonds Career Center offers in-demand technical training for students zoned for high schools in Greer. Students can also apply to the new GCS Innovation Center, Fine Arts Center, and the Charles Townes Gifted Center.
High quality private schools in Greenville and Spartanburg are close by, providing even more options for parents. North Greenville University launched a satellite campus in Greer in 2018. Greer is also just a short drive from Wofford College, University of South Carolina Upstate, Converse University, and Clemson University.
