Landrum staple The Hare & The Hound is a classic restaurant and pub with a new upstairs lounge catered to the 21-and-up crowd, and a menu full of classic but well-executed dishes that will satisfy any craving you have.

Run by former S.C. Chef Ambassador Sarah McClure, Southside Smokehouse & Grille offers an ingredient-driven, seasonally-inspired blend of barbecue and Cajun flavors. The menu changes often, but a host of Southern favorites, and a well-stocked bar with more than 100 bourbons, can be found year-round.

If you’re looking for something more internationally-inspired, take a quick ride to The Pasta Station LLC. This local favorite may look unassuming, but its menu packs an authentic Italian punch. With entrees ranging from fettucine Bolognese, lobster risotto, and veal saltimbocca, The Pasta Station, its comfortable vibe and its extensive wine and cocktail list will fit any dinner date.

The core of Downtown Landrum is Rutherford Street, where you’ll find many of the restaurants and shops that have made the town buzz. East Rutherford Street is a prime spot to start your exploring, especially if you’re looking for unique pieces to take home with you.

Just a few minutes from the heart of the city, Bodega Noir is a wine bar and flower shop with carefully-curated wines, a cozy self-serve beer nook, plenty of seating, and an incredibly-Instagrammable décor. Along with its beverages, Bodega Noir offers floral arrangements, locally-made, craft home goods, fresh pastries and charcuterie, and a comfortable outdoor, shaded seating area.

Bursting with charm, Landrum is well-known for its antique shopping, but hidden treasures aren’t where this pleasant town’s offerings end. New restaurants and businesses have reenergized Landrum and — best of all, there’s more to come.

Just across the North Carolina border from Landrum is the Tryon International Equestrian Center, which perfectly captures and accentuates the area’s equestrian prominence and heritage.

Landrum will also be one of the towns the upcoming Saluda Grade Rail Trail will run through. The repurposed rail line will be the steepest rail trail in the Southeast and is expected to attract cyclists from across the country.

The city itself is also just a short drive from numerous mountain trails, parks, and more that would quench any outdoor-junkie’s desires to get out and up close with nature.

Local businesses line Rutherford Street, but newer, larger employers are relocating to the area thanks to its business-friendly climate and the overall success of Spartanburg County.

Announced consecutively over the last two years were cycling-related investments coming to Landrum, in part fueled by the Saluda Grade Rail Trail plans.

TIME Bicycles will bring its highly-specialized carbon fiber bike manufacturing operations to an old textile space in Landrum. Joining them is Boyd Cycling, which makes wheel components. Together, the two businesses represent Landrum’s venture into the cycling industry.

Landrum is served by Spartanburg County School District 1, with several elementary schools in the area that feed to Landrum and Mabry middle schools, and either Landrum or Chapman high school. The district is known for its academic successes over the years, including some Blue Ribbon Award wins.
